DentalGoodNews|On May 7, 2026, digital dental enterprise Medit announced the strategic acquisition of Progressive Orthodontics, an orthodontic continuing education institution, through its U.S. subsidiary Medit USA Inc., and simultaneously established a global orthodontic business unit. This expansion marks Medit's entry into orthodontic-related businesses, with plans to integrate its 3D scanning technology with clinical education platforms.
The newly established global orthodontic business unit is headquartered in Newport Beach, California, USA, and will serve as the central platform for Medit's orthodontic products, services, and education. This unit will manage Medit's orthodontic portfolio, including the Medit Orthodontic Suite digital platform and the Medit Aligners end-to-end clear aligner solution. It is reported that Medit Aligners have already been launched in the U.S. market, with plans for global expansion.

According to public information, Medit is headquartered in Seoul, South Korea, with operations covering over 190 countries worldwide, providing 3D intraoral scanning technology and digital software solutions to dental practitioners. The acquired entity, Progressive Orthodontics (hereinafter referred to as "PO"), was founded over 40 years ago and is headquartered in Aliso Viejo, California. Data shows that PO has educated tens of thousands of practitioners in over 60 countries, with its curriculum focusing on case-based diagnosis, biomechanics, and treatment execution. As disclosed by Medit, under its ownership, PO will continue its seminars and training programs and plans to gradually integrate its SmileStream program with Medit's digital solutions.
Medit CEO Han Ryu stated that this acquisition and the establishment of the global orthodontic business unit will support Medit's strategic layout in the orthodontic field, combining Progressive Orthodontics' experience in clinical education with Medit's digital tools to drive the integration of orthodontic clinical training and product services. Progressive Orthodontics CEO Miles McGann noted that by joining Medit, the company will leverage its technology platform and international network to continue providing training and practice support to clinicians.
Medit stated that through this integration, it will expand its digital dental ecosystem from pure scanning hardware to integrated clinical workflows, thereby strengthening its competitiveness in the rapidly evolving global orthodontic market.
