DentalGoodNews|On June 5, 2026, French dental pain management product company Septodont announced a global development and commercialization agreement with Australian medical technology company Dentroid. The two parties will collaborate around Dentroid's patented Nuralyte® technology to explore the application of non-invasive dental pain management solutions in clinical settings.
According to Septodont's disclosure, this partnership will combine Septodont's experience in dental pain management with Dentroid's R&D capabilities in photonics and robotics to jointly advance related technology development and global market expansion. Both parties stated that they hope to improve patient experience by reducing discomfort and anxiety during treatment, while providing dental professionals with more treatment options.
From a market demand perspective, Septodont cited data showing that dental fear is relatively common: a systematic review covering 31 studies and 72,577 adults indicated that the global prevalence of dental fear and anxiety (DFA) among adults is approximately 13.8%, with needle phobia considered a significant factor affecting patient visits. Septodont stated that if the related technology is proven safe and effective in clinical studies, it may offer a new option for patients who delay treatment due to fear of injections.
According to Dentroid's information, Nuralyte® is a non-invasive pain management device based on photobiomodulation (PBM) technology. It uses multi-wavelength LED light to act on oral soft tissues and teeth, blocking pain nerve signal transmission within approximately 15 to 20 minutes. Related studies are evaluating its feasibility in reducing or replacing local anesthetic injections in certain dental procedures.
Nuralyte® currently has no large-scale multicenter clinical data publicly released, and its analgesic efficacy, indication boundaries, and safety still require further verification. The specific financial terms of this cooperation agreement have not been disclosed.
